THE COURSE This one-week course is intended for people who want to advance quickly in French learning. For intermediate onwards, this is an intensive course involving approximately 20 hours of teaching plus associated activities and one-to-one rehearsal. Evenings are reserved for communal dining; talks; role-play; themed discussion and films. New learning methods have been introduced which present the potential for accelerated learning, improved retention and increased confidence. The language work, combined with the new learning methods, will be based around themed daily activities and visits. For beginners, emphasis will be placed in getting by in everyday situations. Since these courses are intensive, we cater for 4 to 7 people only at beginner or intermediate level (subject to group constitution). All courses are full-board and include daily lessons of 3 hrs plus cultural visits; one to one teaching if required; contact with craftmen and local people; evening role play; discussions; debates and films; hiking and much more. Gabrielle Gelloz, our resident teacher, has a wealth of experience through Alliance Francaise and other organisations. She encourages fun and relaxation techniques as part of the learning experience, breaking down barriers and creating the confidence to speak. Individual attention is guaranteed. Flights and travel to La Grange are not included. LA GRANGE & LA CHARTREUSE La Grange is situated in a small hamlet at the heart of the Chartreuse National Park. An idyllic rural retreat, it is surrounded by the rolling valleys of Les Entremonts and the majestic emerald mountains renowned as the home of the Chartreuse Monastery. Though the setting is rural France, the alpine cities of Chambery and Grenoble are a short distance away, offering opportunities for cultural visits and sites of interest. La Grange is a typical Chartreusian barn built in 1830 and has been lovingly renovated to provide 3 star Gites de France accomodation. The interior has been restored almost entirely in wood and provides 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a wood burning stove and all modern comforts. A WiFi network is available for Internet and email facilities. We are in contact with local organisations which promote seasonal mountain activities such as via ferrata, parapente, climbing, hiking and skiing. These may be included subject to special arrangements. Price: £495 per person for a 7 day (6 night) course Dates: High season weeks during the summer (July & August) and Christmas 2007 are already booked. Weeks are available from the second week of Sept, Oct, Nov and December 2007 plus Jan, March, April and June 2008. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
